We flew the moon and then the world

then all that we discovered.

We left our memories behind

and all that we had mothered.

*

We landed on our hearts

instead of inside.

We burned our theme of logic

and pretended that it lied.

*

We reverted rain to clouds

and tears to floating magic.

We served some laughter and tea

to anything seeming tragic.

*

We tossed our souls aside

and replaced them with a fist.

We tried the title gentlemen,

liberals, believers and racists.

*

We tried to forget it all

and leave our lives bereft.

And when we again entered our hearts...

There was nothing left.

We served some laughter and tea- what a good line.
