We Don't See the Problems

Within the rotations of Earth

We expect to find meaning in the back of a bar

We search for connection, but don’t know our own hearts

We want to find the finish line, but we can’t even start

We grab the moon, but don’t look at the stars

We don’t see the problems, that are absolutely us

We tell ourselves, there is nothing to trust

We sweep our feelings, like dirt under a rug

And we question why, we can’t find love

It makes my stomach sick

When we only search for a quick fix

When we build foundations, without using bricks

And find it acceptable, to just use sticks

Bottle of liquors, we hold by the neck

Below our standards, we learn to accept

The exchange of secrets, we should have kept

to chase something, we’ll never catch

We will never find love if we don’t put ourselves first

We will keep spinning on a carnival ride while our vision gets blurred

But we do not ask for help just to be reassured

That love still exists, within the rotations of earth

Then again, maybe we have an addiction

Or at least I think

We hold weighted chains

And count their links

Or maybe we are crazy

Or is that just me

After all, I am in my own head

More than on, my own two feet

Sorry, I’m losing focus, so to speak, I think I may be a little out of sync…

“Miss, excuse me. Yes, hi. Could I have another drink? Oh, thank you so much.”

Ok, now, where was I?
