How cliche to write poetry of love and comfort. “Get Comfortable” poetry challenge

By Elisabeth BalmonPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

I read a book where you were in love with me.

They had our names and

I read it before we met.

I was on book two when you found me,

Maybe that’s why.

*

I lay on the floor in the dark

When I look for comfort.

Is that the womb?

Now I find comfort in the sand,

Water on its way.

*

Before every interview, I play the same songs

They sing sweetly to me

So I can dance for work

Never as good as when we worked together

But the songs held me like you never did

*

I love the rain.

I loved that you did, too.

We were on the beach when it started to pour

I always say the best day of my life

Was with you

*

Everything that comforts me

Connects back to you.

I said no when you asked me out

But went anyway.

I can think of nothing else when I see stars.
