Water the tree every day
The gift of commitment
Water the tree every day.
Do not allow time to lapse,
For the ground to become dry,
The soil parched,
Desperate for liquid satiation.
Water the tree every day,
And watch the roots grow deep,
Weaving a lullaby with the soil,
Grounded and held by the mother.
Water the tree every day,
And watch the branches grow tall,
Waving to the heaven above,
Chattering with the birds and the bees.
Water the tree everyday,
And revel in everyday growth.
Small steps, over the years, become marathons.
Water the tree everyday,
And one day,
You will look back
As a leaf of the elder tree graces your back,
And you will remember
The small daily efforts
Are the ones that make a difference.
