Water, Fire, Earth, Air

Yerba Buena Island

By Geoffrey Philp Published 3 years ago 1 min read
Across the Bay

To the sounds of drums

the way water smoothes stones

Oshun writes her name.

In the dry season

the flamboyant that preached fire,

hums a harvest hymn.

From drought hardened earth

seeds that I had forgotten

unfurl their green flags.

In the Everglades

bees tumble in the mid-air

drunk on grape nectar.
