A Sonnet

An AI Generated Image

What is the difference between people and things?

Mere objects; just there being, for a while

Never knowing what it is like for beings

To be conscious of their consciousness—it’s style

A Human Altered AI Generated Image

Things simply are not capable of this

No mere machine, busy scraping the web

Could ever, the mad scraping, fondly miss;

Or feel the bleak tedium flow and ebb

You get the idea

Talk with a person, in any language

You will discover what language is for

No mere means of data storage

It is data experienced; what’s more

Things don't get anything

You are experiencing reading this

Things only see targets they cannot miss

Sonnet

A beautiful, feeling, reflective piece, perfectly communicated...that is of course the standard for D.J.!! Love this one in particular though, it feels like a celebration of human experience :)

  • I've been overthinking since I've been awake and your poem seemed very emotional to me. I loved it!

Loved the “data storage..data experienced” line. Great job!
