My innocent heart defiled,I-I was but a child.

Not knowing the dangers you hid behind your bedroom door.

Not realizing that they were needle tracks you wore.

Were you happier to play with Lucy and Molly?

I’m sorry I wasn’t enough for you Mommy.

They called it child neglect.

Said you were “inept”.

I was taken away.

I lost you that day.

Or you lost me?

Pehaps once I was gone you felt free.

Free from parental obligations.

Able to follow your own damnations.

I was nothing more than complications.

My innocent heart defiled,I-I was but a child.
