Yep. This is relatable. It was a big part of my past– growing up I watched my parents use words as a weapon against each other. Full on War. Explosive. I learned from them and it was my past as well. Fortunately I married a patient and calm man whose parents had civil disagreements. So he taught me what that looked like. Much less traumatic, and I'm grateful I was able to break the chains of the generational curse of verbal assault. This was a really powerful haiku. This is why I love haiku. Sometimes the power in brevity lands harder than an entire page of words (I need to make that phrase into a haiku. lol!). Great work, Paul!

Oh my. I know that war. Well done.

  • Oh, my bad. I thought this was gonna be about arson, lol! Fantastic haiku!

Wow, that’s such powerful imagery. Fire can be symbolic of passion and ambition, or symbolic of a destructive force (playing with fire). I never before thought of words like that, how they can motivate someone or kill their spirit. If only we could use words to tear down the negative thoughts in our heads instead of using words to tear down other people. That’s something I’m working on, but it might be a lifelong journey of learning that for me. 😌

I thought this title said “war of the worlds” and was surprised you didn’t reference the aliens! 😅🤣 ..“Raging war with words” - love it. 👍

  • I used to wage war with words (sometimes still do, I guess), though I prefer to wage compassion & peace.
