Once upon a time,

I wanted the best for the world

The world being my family.

Try as I might, try as I could,

Nothing seemed to get better, even though it could.

I experimented different outcomes,

Trialed and errored on myself so that no one else would need to,

Tried and tried as hard as I could,

Only to be laughed at and ridicules, misunderstood.

Now at the tail end of my exhaustion, over a decade later,

Still tired, still wanting the end to draw nearer

to be reunited with the ones who really knew me,

to be reunited with the ones who understood me

through empathy in all its entirety and not just the word itself.
