Wanderlust Heart

Finding comfort in discomfort

By Tania SchiliroPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Once one chooses to loosen the roots of home,

the journey to a new home begins.

Old roots organically fade away,

making way for new ones,

cautiously grabbing onto fresh soil.

And with each new place of exploration,

each new encounter,

each stage of unforeseen discovery,

both inner and outer,

the heart reveals itself more and more,

like the peeling of a delicious fruit,

having grown from seed to end,

now ripe and ready for indulgence,

revealing a sweet and gratifying flesh,

—and the peel,

having served its purpose.

Now bare and free of clothing,

conditioning,

the heart navigates the world anew,

leaving behind a tiny piece of itself in each encounter,

in each discovery,

in each moment of authentic experience.

Tiny fragments of love and joy,

peppering the path of one’s exploration.

Yet,

even with missing bits and pieces,

the heart has never felt so whole.
