in my ugly little room

(yes, a very ugly room: drab curtains from the fifties. A curling carpet held together by cigarette burns is reflected in the sheeny nicotine stains on the ceiling. Paint peels from the looming walls it’s many layers mark its slow journey through time. Mismatched furniture sits around like junkie vultures but is barely visible as the dim gloom emitting, low wattage bulbs struggle to sustain their vigil against all the darkness’)

on my ugly little chair

an ant on the carpet
