Waiting for the WOW

You asked me if I wrote

I replied “not yet today”

You question why I struggle

With the things I want to say

Well I can tell you darling

Words are stuck within my mind

It isn’t always easy

Inspiration hard to find

I go about my busy days

With so many thoughts inside

I wonder if you think of me

While you’re going for your ride

I wonder if my boys

Will succeed in all they do

I hope that little Alice

Will know how to make it through

I question all my choices

I overthink too much

I long for your gentle presence

And the softness of your touch

And as I look around me

In those very busy days

I have so much to be grateful for

In oh so many ways

So although it’s not every day

That I am able to write

Once the brain has settled down

The words will take their flight

So bare with me as I struggle through

When words are hard to find

Believe that they will find you

They’re just hidden in my mind

They’ll come a day when the mind is clear

And the words will flow once more

Words that will excite you

Maybe touch you at your core

Please just keep believing

In the words I tell you now

You’re still my inspiration
