Waiting for Love
a man searching for love but struggling to find it.

Starting of the poem -- A lonely man walking through empty city streets at night, under glowing streetlights. He looks thoughtful and longing, his hands in his pockets. And he says --
-----------------------------------------
I walk alone beneath the city lights,
Through empty streets and sleepless nights.
The world is full of love, I see,
But somehow, love won’t look at me.
-------
I’ve watched the couples hand in hand,
Their whispered words, their hearts unmanned.
Laughter spills like wine so sweet,
Yet I stand here with aching feet.
---------
I’ve tried to chase it, soft and slow,
Through fleeting sparks that failed to glow.
A glance, a smile, a moment’s dance,
But never more than hollow chance.
--------
They say that love is meant for all,
That every heart will hear its call.
But mine stays silent, cold, and bare,
A vacant room, a breathless air.
---------
I’ve searched through echoes of the past,
Through fading dreams that didn’t last.
Through midnight talks and hopeful days,
But love still walks a different way.
-----------
I’ve held the stars, yet lost the sun,
Felt warmth, then watched it come undone.
Like sand that slips through weary hands,
Like waves retreating from the sands.
------
Is it my fate to walk alone?
To carve my path in dust and stone?
Or will love find me, lost and worn,
And plant its roots where I was torn?
-----
I long to wake to someone’s breath,
To share my life, to laugh at death.
To hold a hand and know it’s mine,
To sip on love like aged wine.
------
But till that day, I wait and dream,
A drifting leaf upon a stream.
Still hoping love will come to stay,
And turn my night to golden day.
