A Poem

Silence is a scream

Indigo splotches blooming like irises on a tiny pale skull

Light fading from staring eyes, more doll-like now than when hours old

Empty arms with faceless uniforms pulling my soul from me

Numbness spreading, thickening in my throat, weighing me down, ripping me apart with savage teeth

Could have sworn that hell was loud, with cries and crackling flames, but here it is

Echoes of lullabies behind a locked nursery door

That was heartbreaking...You perfectly captured the loss of a loved one, and the sickening, heavy silence that comes with it. Great work and beautiful writing!
