i’ve gripped what
the ocean
conceals
pulled by the
spiral of the void
flailed and fought
struggled for naught
surrendered ‘til shadow
and light alloyed
^
i’ve surfaced from
abyssal waters
floated up from the
measureless night
carried on the sea
buoyant
wildly free
casting off anchors
in the wake
of light
^
now i sift through
opal corals
treasures
resting
beneath the
break
the ocean’s floor
serves me
no more
than the
frothing
of the wake
^
what rises now
in starlight
silvered scales
that catch the
moon
freed from
ocean’s keep
simply belly
deep
riding
currents
of a joyful
plume
^
small wonders
kiss the
shoreline
lapping
waves
reveal
their gleam
gems within
my grasp
jewels born of
eroded masks
a playful
shoal—
release
redeems
About the Creator
Kristen Balyeat
Words fly to me on the wind, bump into me as I'm strolling the city, splash me in the face while I rest by the river, and shake me awake in the middle of the night—I’m humbly one of the vessels they use to come to life.
Also, i love you:)

This is so artistically crafted!! The ending is beautiful, the whole progression is enchanting!! Also, I love that your poems' genre is nature poetry. It's so cool and so fitting of you (in such a good way) :) Great job 😊
Just lovely. A languid, beautiful read that I'll enjoy again and again. It actually ebbs and flows. So well done!
This felt blissful in the end. You have such a power in your words, especially when tackling mental health, my friend. Wonderful work, truly, Kristen!
