my mind, adhering with orange,

sticky juice to my hard limits

and i have run out

of patience

nobody likes to wake up

but if you don't, life still waits

for nothing.

just for the nectar

and the beat of another heart

next to mine.

just for more time in love.

in slow motion.

in the delicate light

of waiting

in this patient denial.

desiccation for tomorrow.

not waiting to be seen.

he sees clearly.

no mistaking.

no miscommunicating.

just a familiar ache of what

i hoped i could

ignore the obvious

until the remorse bleeds from me

when it never came to be.

a heart broken so completely,

so terminally.

it became gold.

worth the waiting.

playfully practiced yesterday,

commence what has been maintained.

love is not for the power to gain.

it comes for the mutual.

reciprocating.

meant for the vulnerability.

for the trust.

for the confidence.

for the trophy.

demonstration on a proud display.

values of self-preservation

versus unchanging.
