Venus’ Heartache

When love ends, it goes on

You closed the door on my open-door policy

Overlooking many before you

forgiving my past fallacy

you tamed me when you penetrated my soul

and planted a heart seed

where there was only an empty hole

This love flourished

through melody and poetry in motion

as we rode the tide of every conceivable emotion

Openly we laughed, wept

Got under each other’s skin

Forgiving again, and again, and again

I let you in and we became one

From the setting of the Moon to the rising of the Sun

We were not ashamed as you tamed me,

Penetrated my flesh

Subsequently weeds started to mesh

Where our love once flourished

Desert plains and torrential rains

Left the earth malnourished

With insecurity, loneliness, and contempt

Contemplating whether the words we said, we meant

Melody turned into mental brutality

Until all we had left was this poetry of what we did to one another

Wishing you had never told me you loved me!

Oh, how I wish that you had left my heart empty!

Because now I’m full of your possession

This life lesson has a digression to a rougher road

Led by a trail of tears that ignited my deepest fears

You were the hope of my future;

Now you are the sum of my heartache.

Love beautiful and blessed

Deteriorated into negative stress

Heartbreak is the legacy you left me

The night you blessed me and said,

“You are mine”

love poems
