I never thought you’d bite me

when I’ve only ever tried my

hardest to

make it so you never felt

alone on your own perilous

journey, now I have to put

you to rest.

As I part ways from our

road filled with adventure

I’ve outgrown the skin

I never thought I’d be

big enough to stretch out.

Maybe one day we’ll cross

and overlap again,

but I’ll never be able to

Get the marks off my back

nor the pain out of my head.

heartbreak
