Vanished with Quite the Trace

RIP Daddy (an Abecedarian Tribute)

By Annie Edwards Published 7 months ago 1 min read

Acceptance is not easy,

But it’s necessary, all the same.

Children see their heroes clearly—

Daddy, you were mine.

Empowering me, preparing me

For life’s beautiful chaos.

Grief is inevitable.

Happiness is not guaranteed.

Innocence fades with time.

Just like that, everything changed.

Knowing I’d need guidance, I read the

Letter you left behind.

My favorite piece of advice:

No one is as good as they seem,

Or as bad as they seem.”

Perspective shapes everything

Quite like the mark you left on me.

Resilience matters most.

Something you taught in word and deed.

Though you’re gone in body,

Unseen doesn’t mean unfelt.

Vanished with quite the trace…

When I seek you, it’s easy:

‘X’ marks the spot in my heart.

You’re eternal in memory.

Zzz… I’ll see you in my dreams. 💤
