V. Be My Peace

From Stories for the Storms of Love

By J. JamalPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Be My Peace

Be my peace.

The words rolled from her lips to my ears.

“Life is already crazy. Be my peace. My calm before, during, and after the storm.

Set my mind at ease when my heart is running a mile a minute. Anybody could tell me that everything will be alright, but only you can make me feel that it already is.”

How does one exude peace, when their nature and surroundings scream chaos?

How’s my voice a mellow whisper to her, when I feel like I’m screaming at the top of my lungs?

When the storms of our lives rage on, how can I bring you the peace to be still, until it blows over?

My mind races. My heart paces. Longing for the same peace you seek in me.

God willing, we find it someday.
