A bittersweet ending

Once, it was just the two of us against the world,

But one morning, you woke up and decided to change.

You transformed everything we knew, with nothing left to arrange,

And suddenly, we were in the unknown, unfurled.

-

We tried to talk, but answers eluded us,

I had thought that we would grow old together.

But instead, I found myself alone, with no tether,

As you pursued a new path, leaving me to fuss.

-

The truth was that you had grown bored,

And our plans were lost in the wake of your change.

I was left to bear the cost, to rearrange

My life without you, a relationship ignored.

-

I tried to hold on, but you broke what we had,

Leaving me feeling hurt and sad.

I wondered why things turned out this way,

As I watched you walk away, throwing us away.

-

You weren’t meant to stay,

And it's better to have a brand new start,

But now I see that sometimes people just grow apart,

And that's okay, for it's all part of life's art.
