UpsideDown Rainbows
A poem about a song by Lolly Mariah

I Wanna See Your UpsideDown Rainbows.
I remember sitting upside down on the edge of my twin bed
Seeing life from a new perspective,
the feeling of blood rushing to my head.
Why do I feel right when I'm up and wrong when I'm down?
Why do my feet wear shoes? Why does my head bear crowns?
Why are rainbows arched in the shape of a frown?
I gathered 30 people in a room
to dialogue about this with a friendly tune.
I sang.
"I wanna see your upside down rainbows. I wanna see your smile, yeah"
Looking into the eyes of a confused bunch,
I saw them questioning this line punched.
What does it mean?
So in lyric, I continued to sing.
"I wanna be with you, baby. I wanna see your raindrops turn to morning dew. When the sun rises and brings light to the growth after the storm. I wanna see your upside down rainbow smile."
Sunlight, so bright in the souls that caught on.
Metaphorical elevation for those who've been sad, but fought on.
But still, some of you don't know what I mean,
So forever I will sing
"I bet you didn't know that one day you'd be mine. I bet you didn't know that I'd be by your side, but if you open your eyes and look around. You'd see my love is standing there with you."
Open your eyes to the magnificence that lives around you.
Open your eyes to the colors that vibrate in truth.
When you learn that the same yellows and oranges
that beam from the sun
kiss us both
When you learn that I sometimes feel blue
just like you. At times, I too
only see red agony, but
When you learn that the red of your blood and mine
come from the same bloodline, Of humanity
So you and I are not that different
When you see that the blends of our blues and reds
painstakingly form the indigos and violets of our royalty,
showing that even the deepest hues can reign supreme
When you find that the greens of my heart chakra
are the wings of my heart posture
landing in the center of your cheeks
You'll see why I sing
"I wanna see your upside down rainbows. I wanna see your smile"
