You planted me
in the desert
where I shriveled
in the heat.
You said my lack of growth
was because I
did not believe
that the sun
was all I'd ever need.
But then the storm came
with love's pouring rain
and a reminder -
loud as thunder.
If you're not blooming where you've been planted,
... dis-sunder.
So I swept myself away,
took back my good name,
and hung all my "shame"
in a picture frame
on display
for all to see
and come to know
from desert planters,
you too,
can be
free.
