My pen hovers o’er paper as white as the snow,

But my mind is a captive, my heart has been bound.

Worlds slip through my fingers that I’ll never know.

‎ ‎

There’s a dam in my head where the words used to flow

What good’s a tale with no words and a song without sound

My pen hovers o’er paper as white as the snow

‎ ‎

Kingdoms falling to ruin before they can yet grow

And lost characters die without e’er being found.

Worlds slip through my fingers that I’ll never know

‎ ‎

Life’s stopped up the river, my pen dripping and slow

There’s a desert where once did a garden abound.

My pen hovers o’er paper as white as the snow

‎ ‎

My stories are mine, where else can they go?

If I cannot tend these seeds lost in the ground.

Worlds slip through my fingers that I’ll never know.

‎ ‎

The night turns yet deeper, as black as a crow

When the dripping regrets have my heavy heart drowned

My pen hovers o’er paper as white as the snow

And worlds slip through my fingers that I’ll never know

Could've just as easily been "...words slip through my fingers..." and that would've been good. But worlds slipping through your fingers makes it sublime. Beautiful job. Congratulations on your win!
