Unveiling Resilience
A poem for my eating disorder

In shadows deep, a battle within,
A heart consumed, a silent din.
Whispers cruel, they twist and gnaw,
Eating away, like a relentless saw.
Mirror's gaze distorts the truth,
A quest for thinness, endless pursuit.
Hunger's grip, a cruel embrace,
A dance of pain, a fragile space.
Starved dreams concealed by painted smiles,
Invisible wounds, spanning miles.
Tangled thoughts like thorny vines,
A fractured soul, fragile confines.
Yet strength within begins to rise,
A flicker of hope amidst the lies.
Healing whispers, love's embrace,
A journey back to a healthier space.
With every step towards the light,
Shattering darkness, waging the fight.
Embracing self, flaws and grace,
A path to freedom they'll retrace.
In unity, support is found,
Hearts entwined, breaking through ground.
Together healing, scars erased,
A testament to the strength embraced.
Remember, dear soul, you're not alone,
Your battles fought, your spirit known.
In time, the storms will surely cease,
As love and strength bring inner peace.
