How many breaths must I exhale
To empty my lungs of your scent?
How many nights must I lie awake
To forget the shape of your silhouette?
Our shared laughter echoes still
In corners where memories nest
I pry them loose with trembling hands
But they cling to my fingertips
We poured ourselves into each other
Now I'm sifting through the blend
Trying to reclaim what was mine
Without losing what we made
I'm excavating my own heart
Careful not to crack the core
Where your whispers still reside
In chambers, I can't ignore
With each piece, I reclaim of me
A fragment of us falls away
I'm becoming whole, yet lesser
In this bittersweet decay...
