Unpursued Dawn

Mere Moments

By Ryan Barbin aka “Dirt”Published 2 years ago 1 min read

We spoke as if we’d known each other for years, though it had only been mere moments. Both of us leaning our heads against our hands, holding steady our glances as eyes remained locked in to listen with double the intent of our ears.

I don’t think either of us blinked for the entire length of that conversation, and I don’t remember how much time had passed. At least not as well as I can remember her laugh, her smile, those soft tender lips and those deep, cool swimming pool eyes. So crystal clear and comforting, I just dove right in.

I could have spent hours, days even, just looking deeper in and hanging on every word, yet time had not allowed for such vast exploration. So we shook hands, smiled, and wished each other well upon departure. And that is where the story ends, for I dare not ever again force what fate must choose. And only God can decide when right time and place arrive and who shall be cast in the most important roles of our lives. Chase not the desired ending, but rather relish in the mystery that unfolds.
