Unopened Gift

Senryu

By Andrew C McDonaldPublished about a year ago 1 min read

On tree lights sparkle

Trying to light empty void

Yet my world is dark

…..

Gift left unopened

Lonely colorful ribbons

My heart in a box

…..

There it shall remain

Till another heart I find

To brighten my life

…..

Only then unwrapped

Silken hands that touch my soul

Unspooling ribbons

…..

Receiving the gift

Of a lonely pain filled heart

Needing only love

…..

To beat once again

To once more pump my life’s blood

To make dead eyes shine

…..

Until then it waits

Joyful purpose unfulfilled

Tied closed with heartstrings
