Unlived Affection

Longing

I can't imagine us ever being in love. There's no together with you. All the days I spent in your presence, Sitting outside, staring into the dark skies As you spoke of your troubles and the future you envisioned— I felt hollow, a loneliness I couldn't shake.

I can't imagine forever with you. We drifted apart, growing distant each day. I began longing for a world where you didn’t exist. You’ll remain a cherished part of my past, But a memory I’m relieved to leave behind.

I can't imagine perfection, not with you. So I made it real—I walked away. Yes, it hurt. It burned like hell. But was it ever truly love?

Now, as I lay in bed, I no longer need to imagine. I’m finally free, living in a world without you.

I thought of my first love as I read. He wasn't a bad person, just not good for me so I had to cut ties for my peace of mind. Although, I do wonder... what if.
