Universal Glow

The Color of Consciousness

By Sophie MitchellPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

In the beginning of my life I slept on bedrock

In our sloping backyard that went, down, down the mountain

through the mangled emerald kudzuyr5t.

Then, I was stone, fog, gray.

Sagacious stillness like a ballet.

No wonder I became mom’s “little philosopher.”

I would think: how could it be

that father was father and I was me?

Time to come off the mountain,

Shed that stormy sea tone.

Instead, fog seeped into my bones.

Unfair to be everything and then suddenly one!

And I wondered, how could it be

That I felt so confined when I used to be free?

Then I learned about colors. Did you know?

That these fractions of light arc just the right way,

Existing as one and then individually?

Then My green mind grew red, yellow and blue,

And I knew:

That’s all I am. And so are you.

A fractal of light from the universal glow.

Shooting through space at dizzying speeds,

Sourced from the same energy,

appearing momentarily.

Caught the right way, we explode together

In a dazzling cornucopia of Beauty.
