Unhappy Romans

A poem

By Shana DramaPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
The sun must have come out!

Roman soldiers in the cold rain

Standing shivering some in pain

Arriving here at Hadrians Wall

To protect the kingdom

From the Scott’s mighty squal

But the weather is bleak

It’s cold and it’s wet

High on the moors

In Northumberland bereft

They wished they were home

In Italian sun

Not stood here

Guarding a wall

They moaned and groaned

Their armour to bare

The wet getting in

The cold frosty air

When all of a sudden

The sun it came out

Dried them all off

Some gave a shout

At last they were warm

Enjoying the view

Of Northumberland land

Near Yorvik it’s true !

But now with the sun ☀️

Shining brightly today

They all started enjoying

Their unwelcome stay

The hills and the sea

Undulating for miles

The green and the trees 🌲

All brought a smile 😊

What did the Romans ever do for us?

They stood in the rain gaurding a wall ! 🦋
