I left a prayer on my bedside table,
Didn’t know what to say, just hoped He was able
To read between the lines of the words I left out.
I talk to God,
but sometimes I doubt.
*
I wanna believe like I did as a kid
When faith wasn’t tangled in things that I did.
*
And I keep writing letters to heaven,
But they never feel finished enough to send them.
Too much of disarray to settle.
Maybe He hears the silence too,
Maybe He knows what I’m trying to do.
I keep writing letters to heaven,
But I don’t know how to end them.
*
I used to ask for miracles, now I ask for peace.
Somewhere along the way, I lost certainty,
But I still hold on, even when I don’t see,
Maybe belief is just choosing to be.
*
And I keep writing letters to heaven
But they never feel finished enough to send them
Too much of disarray to settle
Maybe He hears the silence too
Maybe He knows what I’m trying to do
I keep writing letters to heaven
But I don’t know how to end them
*
Maybe He knows what I’m trying to do…
