Unembellished

Our True Beauty

Jeweled leaves of red, and gold, and brown

Have drifted to the ground

Desiccated they are blown away on Autumn’s biting winds

Trunks weathered and powerful

Reveal scars left behind by winding ivy

.........

Spring will come soon enough

Bringing new glorious foliage

But now is the time to rest and renew

.........

It is time to shed that which has shrouded us

Unembellished, our true beauty shines outward

Strong and sturdy roots anchor us

Feel them holding, nourishing, supporting

Branches bare reach towards the heavens with longing

.........

Forward, forward, always forward

Feel the Divine warmth

Warming eternally even through the most bitter cold

.........

Now we go within with Love

Trail our fingers across the bare bark

Follow the rings in our trunk

Gently kiss the roughness and caress the smoothness

Heal the scars, unwind the vines
