Unearthly Visitation

Alien Monorhyme

I was out late last night

Watching the stars to light

When I saw something taking a flight

It flew overhead, doing a figure-eight

Then, in my backyard, it did alight

Out stepped an alien about my height

I quickly said to him that I didn’t want to fight

He told me that he came in peace tonight

He asked me for directions to the house of white

I said that was not the place for him, but I did so polite

I informed him of the political spite

Then I said I could take him to places that would delight

After some thought, he said that would be alright

First, we went to China to pick out and fly a kite

Then we went to Paris to see the sights

I also introduced him to TGIFs when we went there for a bite

We visited Africa and witnessed the elephant’s plight

I introduced him to Sir John and other Knights

I made sure to keep his schedule tight

So that he wouldn’t have time to feel despite

Then, when all felt right

I took him back to his landing site

He told me he thought I was pretty bright

He’s leaving now, as I write

With a promise to return another night
