Under Arrest
Outside of Life

I took a journey to my past
Where mom just made a snack
This was the day I saw her last
Before her heart attack
This journey’s quick, I must return
My family’s back at home
What is this place that I discern
This place where minds can roam
A vow I made I would forget
“I’ll make her laugh each day”
This was by far my worst regret
After she passed away
We met there in her destiny
We shared a warm embrace
I’m recognizing instantly
How much I missed her face
While standing there, we hugged and cried
Before we ever spoke
Yet right on cue, I must confide
I told my mom a joke
She laughs with me but soon I know
God’s answering a prayer
My mother says, “You have to go
Your children need you there”
A rhythmic cadence pumps my chest
I feel I’ve been asleep
I hear the words, “He’s in arrest”
Right there beside my Jeep
From in the wreckage I’m cut free
There’s carnage and there’s strife
The CPR they gave to me
Has brought me back to life

This made me sad, it definitely feels like it's releasing something very powerful that has built up inside the authors soul. I like it
Whoaaaa, did this really happen?
