Uncommon Senses

Doubled Down

By Earl W. PearlPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

I’ve been hearing the smells of dew

Clinging to the grasses that grew

I take barefoot strolls in the yard

Thru a fragrance lowering my guard

I love smelling the taste of peaches

For the fuzzy warm feelings it reaches

It’s a mystery of something still hidden

Could this be that fruit once forbidden

I feel sadness when seeing the poor

From all that they have to endure

Our compassion can silence their fears

Then joy is revealed in their tears

I hate tasting the touch of bitterness

Since it points to emotional brittleness

Give forgiveness its proper debut

For the peace in forgiving’s for you

I keep seeing the sound of the breezes

In the piles of the leaves that it teases

All the views of God’s glories abound

Even Nature declares it profound

fact or fiction
