Uncolorblind
Life isn't like the movies, not always action packed with a happy ending. Sometimes you face so much adversity that is behind the scenes, and you might start to lose hope. That's when you need to adjust your vision so you can see the brilliance again.

StartWhen I was young
My world was drenched in purple
Gleaming with glitter
As I bounded over each hurdle
Ashamed and shy
Still never sure why
outlying on the spectrum
I was lost the the naked eye
Then, as the years went by
Reality got heavy
vibrance waned with a sigh
Spellbound by
A civilized lull
conditioned for complacency
as my surroundings went dull
The more I was told
The less I could trust
Symbols were scolding
My imagination lacked luster
The colorwheel spun
And I was dealt gray
But my head veiled a hue
That refused to fade
Symphonies
Sonnets
Coursing my veins
A pallette so engrained
It threaded my DNA
I longed for the anomaly:
Bursting in fractals
Rushing my blood
Shocking my nerves
Crashing through my heart with a thud ...
But my awakening was subtle
A puzzle seeped through the wait
For its in the eye of the beholder
That a pixel translates
It wasn't a rainbow that shot through the sky
But rather a photograph
Where darkness developed the dye
When that image emerged and was flooded with light
It still wasn't spectacular
The contrast was slight
Ideas dissolved
I became like wet paint
Tagging all that I touched
Until my world was less plain
change was a
Construct
The pigments I expelled
Were never boosted by luck.
We thirst for the stories
With earth shattering arcs
Then forget to be patient
And finsh our art
Most lives fall short
Of a blockbuster plot
Then we worry we missed our shot
On the other side it's green
To the the extent of a screen
But my existence is an experience that can never be bought
When it starts to feel like
50 shades of mundane
I remember that I have the
Power to create -
One brushstroke at a time
To cast my color day by day,
So by the end of my life
Nothing will be left gray.
