Unbroken hearts remain most lonely,
For as the sun in azure east doth rise,
So falls again, in perception only.
------------
So speaks the wisdom of the homely,
Despite success and other lies,
Unbroken hearts remain most lonely.
------------
Though solitude should seem so holy,
‘Tis love which raises brighter skies
To fall again, in perception only.
------------
In darkness swells affection coldly,
That by the blinding of their eyes,
Unbroken hearts remain most lonely.
------------
By hope of dawn ye might love boldly,
For ‘tis broken days which bear the lights
That fall again, in perception only.
------------
Thus seek not solace in such folly;
Remember that, though love in memory dies,
Unbroken hearts remain most lonely—
So, fall again, in perception only.
