Poetry is Life

By Earl W. PearlPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

Today I gave life to a creature that lives

With no preconditions it already gives

Genetically perfect it’s perfectly fine

Birthed with a copyright making it mine

This child of my own that I vow to protect

Devotion I give for the pride I collect

This may be my latest, but won’t be my last

A glimpse of my future that hints of my past

Creatively prideful it takes after me

Aggressively modest, it likely will be

Loaded with passion, unburdened by guilt

Carefully formed through a structure I built

It shares my opinions without holding back

Helps carry the baggage I need to unpack

Protecting my virtue no matter the cost

The perfect companion whenever I’m lost

We struggle each night getting ready for bed

It’s constantly hungry and wants to be fed

So loud and obnoxious, this lovable “bleep”

I love writing Poetry, but I need some sleep

love poems
