I traveled the same road today, that I travel most days.

A scenic country road. Passing by buffalo and Christmas tree farms.

It was a nice day, especially for late fall. The drive was hindered somewhat, a piece of farm equipment moving slowly.

But I didn’t mind, I didn’t go around, I followed slowly. Until it turned.

Then up the road, before my turn, came a car.

Appearing from behind the trees lining the road.

It never slowed, it never braked.

It went right past the stop sign, crossing were I would have have been, had I passed the tractor.

Two seconds, it took me to get where this speeding car had been.

Two seconds from it hitting me in the drivers door.

Two seconds.

It was doing at least sixty........two beats of my heart.

I would have died, but for a tractor.
