A Sonnet of Shadow and Light

At the dawn of time, Mother Nature ruled.

She bore two dear daughters, Shadow and Light.

Both alike in force, and fiercely, they dueled.

Alas, they remain their Mother’s Delight.

Shadow is the harbinger of Darkness.

She lives in an eternal masquerade,

Deepest, truest passions, she won’t confess.

Shrouds from prosecution, her escapade.

Light, her twin, her opposite and equal.

Her domain is day, where all truths lay bare.

When Shadow invades, there begins the squall.

Patiently, Mother waits out the affair.

Night falls, day breaks, for evermore and more.

The twins of Nature are her very core.

About the Creator

Noelle Spaulding

I was once called a ‘story warrior’ by a teacher in film school, because of how passionately I prioritized the story over all other aspects.

I believe good stories inspire the best of us, and we need them now more than ever.

Yin and Yang, darkness and light. Ever in opposite. Nice poem.
