Twilight

A time most wonderous

Twilight dawns, the eventide betwixt daylight and night

That soft glowing light from the sky reflecting the sun's rays

Twilight, that glorious state of obscurity and ambiguity

Half-light, semi-darkness, dimness approaches lovely oblivion

So too, do we approach life's cycle as akin to the dawning twilight

Should we not embrace the dawning of our twilight years

Of what are we so afraid, is it the great unknown, the beyond

What if I were to tell you, you should race forward and grasp it tightly

Would I be lying to you. Is it not better over here than over there?

I desire to believe that my twilight will bring me peace, joy and utter

Abandonment of material and worrisome terrors of this world

The twilight of our existence exists not in whether tis here or after

But rather, reflects in the kindnesses that we extend as we pass along

This surreal yet tangible, ambiguous, kind yet a bit unkind world of ours

Twilight, such a beautiful word, extricate from it what you will

Just be ready, when the true meaning of the word ripples over you

Ushering you into twilight's outstretched and welcoming tender arms!
