Twenty Years In Two Years

a poem

Excellent narcissists exceeding

The abilities of their predecessors

Achieving what took the former two decades

In just two years.

They have been practicing it themselves for twenty years.

It's unrealistic to expect an elephant to become a butterfly;

It's just an absurd demand.

Similarly,

Teaching a farmer to be a ballerina

Requires developing an acute sensitivity for fragile things,

If you have refrained

From the sole license I possess

To dissect and step back

From unnecessary matters

Blundering, babbling, and boasting

As they are detrimental to the soul.

I have learned to embrace pure silence,

Where genuine words flourish

And overshadow the negatives,

And buried beneath a pile of peculiar objects,

Neglect, a profound absence of love,

And an astonishing level of ignorance,

Causing us to turn against each other,

Even if it means betraying our own siblings;

In this manner, abusive roots that were once forsaken

Returned with even greater force,

Thrusting me away from the core of life.

I found myself on the opposing side

Of society, politics, and religion.

This self-made woman, broken at the start,

Transformed into her own demand,

To hold, to heave, to hurl,

Faced with the absence of other needs.
