do you know what it's like?
to try,
and get tired?
and try again and get tired and try again?
you know that feeling you have
to muster up the energy to try again?
and you try again with good energy.
and then you get tired again?
you know what it's like to feel like you're
trying to save your life
but you get tired?
but you try again?
and you try again.
can you try again.
and you can't believe that you have to
keep trying so much.
that's what makes it really tiring too.
do you know what i'm talking about?

coming home from work one night. tired. cried a little bit. but i'll stay with it. i know i'm on to something here. good luck to us all - this living is strange.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
