True love exists

A short love story to warm your heart

By Brittany RosePublished 6 years ago 1 min read

My grandma always tells me this story:

"When your father was a young boy he ran into the house, flicked on the TV, and called me into the room. I watched a dance team celebrating Octoberfest, he proceeded to point at a girl on the TV and stated, I am going to marry that girl."

April 16, 1988, 30 years ago my dad kept his word. He married the love of his life. "I loved her, she was my best friends little sister, but I was captivated by her."

I never really thought much of this story when I was a kid, it didn't mean much to me. Growing up with parents who are entirely in love with one another was a complete norm for me. I didn't know anything else.

Now that I'm a young adult and know what love is, it's impressive just how rare the love they share is. I continuously watch them as they join hand in hand through thick and thin and are completely infatuated with one another.

So, Congratulations to my support system, my entertainment, and my best friends.

Thank you for teaching me what genuine love is.

Thank you for teaching me how to deal with being the third wheel, and how to love each other no matter what.

Thank you for giving me hope and reassurance that real love exists.

Thank you for teaching me to give everything I have to the people I love, and to do whatever I can to make those people happy.

Thank you for showing me that with hard work, I can accomplish anything. You both admire the other’s career and support each other’s dreams and passions. You’ve done so much to keep our family safe and happy, and I will forever be thankful.

And finally thanks for setting the bar so high and being super cool in the process. Your story is now one of my favorites.

I Love you guys!
