Personal thoughts on colour

The colours I see when I close my eyes,

The colours that form within in my third eye,

The colours making images of people of my past,

And brightest colours seen in things bound to last.

The colour of cooking, the spices, the jaggery

The colour of bindis and Kandyan jewellery,

The colour of vibrance and energy in communities,

To the calming colours of nature, greenery, and seas.

The colour in my work, studies, and paintings,

The colour in the real world, vibrations, and gaieties,

The constant colour changing throughout my relationships,

And the ever-changing colours within spirits of eternity.

Loss of one sense only enhances another,

And the ones who are unable to see light or colour,

Grow wings elsewhere, distinct, they fly high and flutter,

Many bringing joy to others – thank you Stevie Wonder.

Colour now is not my everything.

My everything is what I choose,

My everything is what I appreciate,

What does not serve me, I loose,

If I first learn to truly appreciate colour,

Anything else in my life that I choose,

can be loved, noticed, appreciated and enjoyed too,

My unique gratitude for overlooked things,

That will only develop and continue.
