TRUE COLORS

Who am I and who I determine to be

I am a human like every other being

but I determine to love unlike the others

To be divergent

To be me

In other ways I seek to be

nothing more than the way my heart leads

A soul who speaks from depths of a creative mind

A soul with hues brighter than the sun

who shines in the dark but only to see

I'm all I've been searching for in this life to be

The trails of love crumbs I leave behind

to lead all those in search of light

As I seek to define

more of what captures my eye

I see nothing more than what I feel

A community so vivid

with colorful emotions

free of loving whom the heart desires

With voices and minds united

to bound with those chained to closets

but camouflaged at surface

A wall unseen and only breakable

with those with a courage to see

they are important and they are seen

United we are more

I'm all ears but never listened to

no matter the arrows my body will take

I'll be standing with my heart at stake

starving from love no matter the wait

I'll always be there like guards throughout the day

The little girl in me has much to say but

what better way than to write it on paper

like a notebook with feelings

hugging the pages of a story heart-made

I know the time is near for all to hear

for all to witness my growth

from the view I've hid from all these years

That beautiful heart that my soul has amend

after being on the verge of collapsing

but all is well

like a bullet coming through

not doing the job to destroy me but

to resurrect the most blessed part of me, my heart

It is here I say to remind all

to remind myself

we are like flowers

we are mesmerizing

so we will bloom

we will grow

we will age

and we will decease

but not a thing in life will erase how beautiful your existence was

til forevermore it remains a permanent mark in mind
