True Blue

Life Through a Blue Lens

By Farai GotoraPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Me

"What's your favorite color?"

My ready response is blue.

All my life I've appreciated that hue.

It paints the vast sky,

That limitless barrier over my head.

Blue is stately

Blue is cool

And somedays I find myself embodying the two.

Blue is a primary,

One of One.

Blue is one that exists without influence from another.

Red and Yellow share this distinction

And thus are worthy of honor and mention.

Green, a direct legacy of Yellow and Blue

And in it's creation there wasn't one but two.

And to that tune,

I, like blue

Revel in what it is I do.

Knowing there is none like me

I am one of a kind

And in pairing with another,

Greater horizons I find.

Yet blue can weigh over the head,

Filling young and old with gloom and dread.

"You've got the blues"

So the saying goes

And I bare my fair share of those.

From stately calm to moody blues,

I embody all these varied hues.

Blue is understated and bold

And if I know myself then I fit that exact mold.

I respect what all colors and people bring to the table

But no one else can quite do

The things that I'm able.
