Trojan Horse Tongue

Be alert of it

In Greek mythology,

you must have heard

about the Trojan Horse —

an enemy in disguise,

in one’s own house.

If you think about it,

there are many

such Trojan horses

in our own body,

and the tongue is one.

It tastes food,

reporting the sensation

to the boss — the brain.

The pleasure center lights up

when we eat something tasty.

We seek out those food,

for the dopamine rush,

even though it may be

deleterious to the body.

People will hate broccoli

but pile up on pastas,

cakes, and sweet drinks.

They have no awareness

of acidity, and inflammation,

or gut health integrity.

So, be wary of the tongue.

Choose food carefully.

Eat a variety of food

with minimal processing.

As Hippocrates said:

Let food be thy medicine,

and medicine be thy food.”
