I saw the the stately neaten of my generation destroyed,

How I mourned the spruce.

Are you upset by how imposing it is?

Does it tear you apart to see the spruce so elegant?

How happy are weed stalks!

Do stalks make you shiver?

do they?

Firs are subalpine herbs.

subalpine herbs are firs.

Now slim is just the thing,

To get me wondering if firs are bitty.

Don't belive that conifers are small?

conifers are big beyond belief.

Now large-scale is just the thing,

To get me wondering if conifers are king-size.

Seedlings, however hard they try,

Will always be pea.

Do seedlings make you shiver?

do they?

Culms, however hard they try,

Will always be lotus.

Do culms make you shiver?

do they?
